About GCB

GCB is an abbreviation for Generator Circuit Breaker. This panel is used to control the generator in 13 X 1.56 MW Gas Genset Based Power Plant. Generator circuit breaker panel will work either standby applications or parallel applications. In a standby application, the generator will never be connected to the grid. It is used to connect the generator supply to applicable load by synchronizing incoming supply and generator output in terms of phase, frequency and voltage.

Why Low Voltage Directive is Applied?

The LVD covers health and safety risks on electrical equipment operating with an input or output voltage of between:

• 50 and 1000 V for alternating current
• 75 and 1500 V for direct current

It applies to a wide range of electrical equipment for both consumer and professional usage, such as household appliances, cables, power supply units, laser equipment, certain components like fuses etc.

Applicable Harmonized Standards

EN 60204-1:2006+A1:2009: Safety of machinery-Electrical equipment of machines – Part 1: General requirements.

Testing is done by ITC INDIA Pvt. Ltd. as per harmonized standards.
